Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Taylor Westendorf who is a senior at Plankinton High School.
Taylor maintains a 3.99 GPA. Additionally, she's an athlete participating in Cross Country and Basketball. She's also a member of the National Honor Society.
When we asked Taylor about her favorite class, she said precalculus because she knows it'll benefit her in the long-run.
"It'll help me think outside the box and that there's more than one solution to a problem," Taylor Westendorf said.
She'll need that as she closes in on her senior year. Meanwhile, she looks ahead to what's next. That includes two years at Lake Area Tech for their Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
With Lake Area, they have a co-op with USD for two years at Lake Area and two years at USD to get your degree," Westendorf said.
Taylor has enjoyed her many years going to school in Plankinton.
"The little classroom, you get more one-on-one interaction with teachers. You get to create good relationships with your classmates," Westendorf said.
"She's an all-around good kid. She's driven. She sets goals and works to meet those goals," LeeAnn Nussbaum said. "She's always strived to do her best. She's kind and has a wonderful heart.
And Taylor says she's thrilled about this recognition.
"It means a lot. It shows I've actually worked really hard for where I am and it will pay off," Westendorf said. "If I work hard, I can prove to everyone I can get into the college I want and get the scholarships that I need."
Speaking of scholarships, for being named our Scholar of the Week, Taylor gets $100 from Central Electric Cooperative Association which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
