Sioux Falls Fire Rescue returning home from Custer State Park Friday

(KSFY) - Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will return home Friday from assisting with the Legion Lake Fire in the Black Hills.

The three units and 10 firefighters will take off from Custer State Park around 2 p.m. CT.

“Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to thank the community for its support during this deployment to the Black Hills. We certainly are proud to serve this community and also to be a resource when others in our state need assistance,” Fire Chief Brad Goodroad said in a press release.

The crews left early Wednesday morning.

The Legion Lake Fire began Monday morning and has burned more than 84 square miles. It is at 50 percent containment. Officials say it was caused by a downed power line.
