SIOUX FALLS, SD (KSF) - A Sioux Falls Little League's streak continues.
Saturday morning, the team representing South Dakota and North Dakota in the regional tournament beat Missouri 6-0 in the Midwest Regional Championship.
The win earns the team a spot in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania Aug. 17-27.
Their first game is against Greenville, N.C. at 7 p.m. on Friday and the format of the tournament is double-elimination.
The Sioux Falls team has been undefeated in its first year of organization. Sioux Falls defeated Webb City in a 6-5 comeback in Wednesday's game.
Manager Jeff Riley told us the team was confident but not over confident going into Saturday's game.
The game broke open late in the third inning as Sioux Falls' first hit came off the bat of Ty Naaktgeboren. Marcus Phillips hit an infield single following a walk and Sioux Falls was up 1-0.
Missouri's Evan Freeman walked Ethan Bruns and Bennett Dannenbring smashed a two-run single to put South Dakota up 3-0. Jack Radel hit another single to give Sioux Falls a 4-0 lead which they carried into the bottom of the fifth.
Webb City's Dupree Jackson hit single in the first inning.
Two Sioux Falls pitchers combined for a shutout against Webb City, but Phillips, the starter, took the win going five and a third innings, allowing just one the hit off Jackson's bat. He struck out eight.
Webb City's Freeman took the loss. He pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowed four runs, four hits, and struck out six.
Councilwoman Christine Erickson hosted another watch party in Sioux Falls which about 100 people attended.
