SiouxFalls.Business Report: December 12, 2017

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SIOUXFALLS.BUSINESS) - Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business was live from the new Lewis Drug store at 37th Street and Minnesota Avenue to discuss the latest business news:

Lewis Drug will open its new Minnesota Avenue store Wednesday, but first there's some moving yet to do.

While much of the store is set up, areas like the pharmacy and the holiday merchandise are being held at 41st and Minnesota as long as possible so customers can still do all their shopping while the new store gets going.

Beginning later this evening, the store will wind down operations and everything will shift a few blocks north to the store at 37th Street and Minnesota. It's a very modern, bright store with a focus on convenience.

And it's the first of several new locations coming for Lewis. I know you're wondering about progress on the downtown store – it's scheduled to open in late spring.

In the meantime there's another new downtown development to announce.

The Blarney Stone Irish Pub opens Wednesday on Phillips Avenue in several former storefronts north of 12th Street. Blarney Stone has locations in North Dakota and bring a full-service bar and restaurant to downtown.

There will be multiple spaces to dine and drink, including windows that will open to Phillips Avenue in the nicer weather. For now, they're just opening upstairs but eventually they will open a downstairs lounge area too.

Doors open at 11 a.m. Wedensday for lunch, but if you can't wait I'm told you might be able to stop in and celebrate the opening starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
