SiouxFalls.Business Report: February 6, 2018

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SIOUXFALLS.BUSINESS) - Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business stopped by the KSFY Studio to discuss the latest business news:

We are getting ready for another big year out at Lake Lorraine.

Shoppers, this spring brings more options for you as DSW is opening mid-March and Kirklands will follow after that.

The developers of the property also have moved their offices out there. Van Buskirk is using part of the first floor of a new office building which also is filling up with other businesses including Sola Salon Studios upstairs.

And there are more hotels on the way too. Aloft will start construction near Hobby Lobby this spring as will another national hotel name on the other side of the lake. Both will open next year.

As for what's next? They're already marketing Lake Lorraine to more stores, plus several restaurants.

Prepare for some big crowds soon as Pheasant Fest comes to Sioux Falls.

This is the smallest market the convention has ever been held, and it is making a big impact already with ticket sales that are surpassing other cities and one banquet that is already sold out.

We expect at least 20,000, but maybe as many as 30,000 people for the event at the Convention Center, which is taking every square inch of space with 400 vendors.

Businesses are getting into the spirit too with special events and promotions aimed at all those pheasant fans.

The event runs Feb. 16 - 18.
