SiouxFalls.Business Report: January 16, 2018

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SIOUXFALLS.BUSINESS) - Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business stopped by the KSFY Studio to discuss the latest business news:

We are expecting a big year out at the Sanford Sports Complex, which is entering its next phase of development.

It's been more than five years since the Fieldhouse and junior football fields opened and five years since the Pentagon opened. Power and Grace Gymnastics opens this summer.

The next phase could involve a lot of land – more than 400 acres – and a mix of retail, residential, office and more sports facilities. There is interest from retailers in the area and plans in the works for more sports out there. The hope is to announce some of it this year.

And keep an eye on the Scheels IcePlex – they're so busy they're already thinking about a second phase, although nothing has been finalized yet.

There's an announcement coming about a plan to convert a historic city library and fire station that we first told you about last year.

Stone Group Architects will be renovating the space on the east end of downtown into an office for its growing architecture firm. They've got a great plan to modernize the space while keeping its historic character.

Stone Group has been growing fast after starting in Sioux Falls in 2012 and already has expanded to Sioux City.

The plan is to open in the new downtown space this fall.
