SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SIOUXFALLS.BUSINESS) - Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business stopped by the KSFY Studio to discuss the latest business news:
Travelers -- there could be some new destinations coming your way out of the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
Coming off an eighth consecutive record year for passengers, airport officials have been meeting at the headquarters of the major airlines that service Sioux Falls, encouraging them to expand service.
Some potential new destinations include Washington, D.C., Houston, and Newark.
But it's not as easy as just selling the city. A pilot shortage means airlines are being extra careful where they add routes, because it often means taking them away from somewhere else.
Meanwhile the airport is getting ready for another construction year, with a runway reconstruction that will take much of the year and an expansion at baggage claim to add redesigned carousels and more room for travelers. That will take about a year as well.
Doughnut lovers -- it's going to be easier to get your fix on the east side.
Flyboy Donuts is expanding to a location on E. 10th Street near Bahnson Avenue. It's the second location for the doughnut shop, which tested the market with a food truck last summer.
The new location will have a retro aviation theme with a retro diner feel inside and might be open a little later in the day than Flyboy is now.
The plan is to open in mid-April or early May. Until then, nothing is changing at Flyboy's original location at 57th and Western.
