(KSFY) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol will hold recruiting seminars over the next few weeks in an effort to add more female troopers to its ranks.
Seminars are planned for February 15 in Pierre at the Capital Lake Visitors Center from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., and March 6 in both Aberdeen at the Caribou Coffee at 604 6th Ave. SE from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Watertown at Lake Area Technical Institute from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Another seminar will be held in Sioux Falls on February 20 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Southeast Technical Institute’s Sullivan Health/Science Building.
Each seminar lasts two hours and covers topics like the application process, training and challenges that come with the position.
Thirteen women currently work as state troopers.
Officials said the seminars have helped increase the number of women in the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
