PIERRE, S.D. (SDBA) - One of the perks for Legislative interns and pages at the State Capitol in Pierre is seeing part of the historic building where most people aren't allowed -- inside the iconic dome.

The South Dakota Broadcasters Association reports the Bureau of Administration hosts this tour as a reward for the students' hard work.
Each year they squeeze their way up the spiral staircase to the top floor that sits nearly a hundred feet above the rotunda.
The interns and pages also get to leave their mark among the thousands of signatures covering the dome's interior.
It's a tradition that dates back more than a century.
