Study ranks South Dakota among best states for dental health

(KSFY) - A new analysis by a consumer website has ranked several Midwestern states among the best when it comes to dental health.

The Wallethub study ranked South Dakota 9th in the nation for dental health. Minnesota ranked first in the study, while North Dakota came in fifth. Iowa was 13.

Researchers compared 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 indicators of dental wellness, including from cost of dental treatment, percentage of people who visited the dentist in the past year, and the percentage of smokers in the state.

Mississippi came in last in the study.
