Tea, SD (KSFY) The incredible guitar giveaway at Garth Brooks Saturday afternoon show has been viewed on Facebook more than 110,000 times.
Monday night, KSFY had a chance to talk to the lucky teen from Tea who is now the proud owner of her very own autographed Garth Brooks guitar.
“I like playing country music and signing,” Haylie Weber said.
Tea senior and Special Olympics athlete Haylie Weber is still on cloud nine after Saturday’s show.
“I'm like a huge fan,” Haylie said.
“I just want to thank Garth from the bottom of our hearts, this was just a dream come true for her and just put a huge smile on her face,” Haylie’s mom Tasha Weber said.
Her mom says the sign that caught the country music star's attention was a last minute decision.
“She wanted to make a sign to hold, right before we took off we made this sign that said ‘This Special Olympic athlete would like to meet Garth’,” Weber said.
“We gave him the sign,” Haylie said.
That's when Haylie got far more than she ever imagined.
“He had no idea that she loves guitars, she just loves to play her guitar, that's just one thing she loves to do so it’s just very special,” Weber said.
The incredible, unexpected memory is still going strong as support continues to pour in.
“Everybody in Tea and like everywhere,” Haylie said.
“All of the comments on Facebook, we're over 100,000 views right now,” Weber said. “People I don't even know, they're all so happy for her and say she's a huge inspiration and just everyone was saying how emotional the video was; it was very emotional, that's for sure.”
The Webers say Garth's people treated them like royalty even after the concert. They had a guitar case ready and waiting for them and helped escort them out to their car.
