ETHAN, S.D. (KSFY) - Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Caleb Brouwer, a senior at Ethan High School.
The list of things he's involved in goes on and on... on top of enjoying learning in the classroom.
He's also got a 4.0 GPA.
Caleb Brouwer is a busy guy this year.
"I'm in band, choir, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Quizbowl, president of my church group," Brouwer said. "I just take everything one step at a time. Get everything done."
But as you heard -- he prioritizes well.
"Trying your best in your classes is good advice," Brouwer said. "It affects your GPA later down the road. That could affect getting into college and things like that. Starting early and getting good grades early is best."
"He is what I would refer to as the perfect role model for our students --
young and old alike," principal Tim Hawkins said. "Very respectful, motivated young man. He gives you his all in everything he does. He's an exceptional student."
He's got a pretty bright future ahead of him -- wherever he decides to go.
"I'm thinking of going into pre-law or engineering at USD or SD School of Mines and Technology," Brouwer said.
But before he does, he's got a message for Ethan High School.
"I'd like to give a shout-out to all the teachers here at Ethan because without them, I wouldn't be able be in the position I am right now," he said.
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Caleb receives a $100 scholarship from Central Electric Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
