Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Chloe Lamb, a senior at Sully Buttes High School with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Chloe is active with both the Student Council and the National Honor Society. She runs Track and plays both Volleyball and Basketball.
Chloe Lamb tells us she works as hard she can to do well in class but admits she loves to learn....so when she comes to school she is doing something she enjoys. "It's challenging and I like that challenge coming to school every day and knowing that I am going to learn something new."
Chloe says she gives some of the credit for her success to her teachers. She says they all help her out whenever she needs it.
But she says she has used her time in high school to become a more well rounded individual by immersing herself in as many extra curricular activities as she can. It's the number one piece of advice she passes on to underclassmen. "I would also say get involved in everything. You learn lots of skills through FCCLA, Oral Interp, just presenting in front of people and being around different kinds of people. I think that helps."
And it's because of this desire to do a lot of different things and do them well that school counselor Kris Sweeter nominated Chloe to be a Scholar of the Week. "I nominated Chloe because she is an exception student here and Student-Athlete. She excels well in the classroom. She challenges herself by taking some of the more challenging classes and also the online dual credit."
Chloe says grades matter; that you have to do well in every year of high school....not just your senior year....and she also says she can't wait for what comes next. "Right now I am thinking of going somewhere in the medical field but I will be attending USD. I'll be playing basketball there so I am pretty excited about that."
For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Chloe receives a $100 scholarship from Oahe Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
