David Wang is one of those students any school district would be lucky to have.
"I try to go above and beyond and when I try and work on things, I try and do it right," Vermillion High School Senior David Wang said.
He even has an impressive schedule. Believe it or not, he calls this his "easy" semester.
"AP Chemistry is the main, big one. AP Literature, band all four years. All the requirements and things like that. At USD I'm taking a couple college courses. Rock and Roll History and Composition One," Wang said.
Vermillion High School Principal Curt Cameron is proud to have him as a student having witnessed his relationships with students and staff.
"They respect him not only intellectually but he's caring and he has a big heart, a good listener," Principal Curt Cameron said.
One thing impressing Principal Cameron the most: an Investment Club that David started and other students joined too.
"The Investment Club gave our local food pantry a check for $100 that the kids, themselves, went and earned through fundraising and different things they did. That characterizes what David is all about," Cameron said.
Next year, David hopes to attend a college where he can learn new things in a new environment. He's awaiting early college applications right now. Among them, Harvard.
For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, David receives a $100 scholarship from Clay-Union Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
