Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Elizabeth Tobin

By  |

Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Elizabeth Tobin, a senior at Aberdeen Central High School with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Elizabeth is a member of the National Honor Society.

She also plays Volleyball and is very active in church activities.

Elizabeth Tobin says she bristles a bit when she hears people dismiss their high school years. "It's your future. High school is very important because that's what gets you into a good college which determines your future career and your whole life after that if you want it to."

Elizabeth's work has earned her a pefect 4.0 grade point average.
She says the reason good things are happening for her is simple: she does the work required to get the result. "I really have pushed myself in my coursework because I am fairly intelligent and so I've been able to succeed because I put in the effort and do my homework."

Her teachers notice the quality of her work and the amount of time she puts in to accomplish it.
Terra McQuillen is a Language Arts teacher at Aberdeen Central. "Elizabeth is an overall strong student academically. Socially. In terms of involvement. She has a high level of excellence in her personal expectations for herself."

When it comes to her future plans, Elizabeth has some of it figured out......but is still working to get it all figured out. "I'm not super sure about which college yet. I'm looking at U of M but I will probably major in Math wherever I go."

For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Elizabeth receives a $100 scholarship from Northern Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
