Jacob is president of both the Student Council and the Future Farmers of America.
He also plays Baseball, Basketball and Football and runs Track as well.
Jacob Hertz tells us his favorite class for his senior year is Anatomy...which as you can see leads to some interesting class work. "I learn a lot in it. I learn a lot. we have a good Science and Math program."
Jacob has always held himself to a high standard throughout his academic career but he says the credit for his success doesn't all go to him. "My mom pushing me. Definitely my mom pushing me through it. My parents pushing me through it. Making me strive to be better."
But Jacob is also very good at tackling tasks and keeping himself focused on the work that needs to be done.
Jacob's Ag Education teacher is Brady Duxbury. "What an awesome leader. Just a totally amazing leader. Very very strong background and roots in what we are doing. Very good presence and an ability to speak to people."
"Work hard. Don't take it for granted. It goes quick. So work hard all the way through so you can enjoy it." Jacob says he wants a future career where he can focus on helping people in a meaningful way. "I'm gonna go for Pre-Med at either South Dakota State or USD and then pursue my medical degree and become a Radiologist."
For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Jacob receives a $100 scholarship from Bon Homme-Yankton Electric Association which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
