Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Libby Bailey

Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, January 7th, is Libby Bailey. She's a senior at Bridgewater-Emery High School with a 3.96 GPA.

As the daughter of the district's superintendent, Libby has always valued her education. She's involved in just about everything, knows how to work hard and with that, sets a great example for other students.

Libby is involved in athletics, school plays, Student Council, FCCLA and more.

"It makes me well-rounded because now when it comes to filling out scholarships, it's nice because I have many things I can put on my applications because I have been in everything. It's kept me busy but I have learned so much from all of the activities," Senior Libby Bailey said.

She admits the younger classmates give her the motivation to do well.

There are students younger than me, middle school students, want to see -- does she take days off? She doesn't she keeps going and pushes through. They really watch what you do. If you make one mistake, they'll know it," Bailey said.

Middle and high school principal Christena Schultz said she is a friend to everyone.

"With that, her academics, GPA and strong involvement, her faith, it makes her a great well-rounded student that stands out," Principal Christena Schultz said. "She would be good at whatever she would choose to do."

Libby has her sights set on South Dakota State University or the University of Sioux Falls. She's hoping to make a career out of something she loves: school.

"I want to go into teaching because it's something I've always been interested in. Now it's just deciding if I want to teach family-consumer sciences education or math or elementary," Bailey said.

For being named KSFY's Scholar of the week, Libby receives a $100 scholarship from Southeastern Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
