Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Minda Warns-Bartelt, a senior at Waubay High School who has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
She's active in Drama, Speech and is a member of the National Honor Society.
If you ask Minda Warns-Bartelt why she does so well in school she well tell you it's because of the lessons she first learned at home. "Ever since I was a little kid my parents raised me to be a hard worker and get things done. if you can do it, then do it. dont' slack. don't put things off."
Minda is driven when it comes to her schoolwork. She is taking dual credit coursework right now to get ahead on her college studies.
When it comes to her high school studies she has worked ahead on those as well. She is set to graduate from high school in December. "I've just always had a good attitude about school. I 've just always been a go getter wanting to get things done."
That attitude of not just doing the work but doing it well makes Minda stand out says school couselor Chelsea Larson. "She is an amazing student. Every teacher would wish to have Minda. She's a hard worker. She has taken her education and made it her own."
"My favorite part of school is just helping others out....I mean sharing my knowledge with everybody else." Minda says after December she is going to work on earning more college credits online before she heads west to attend the college of her choice. "I plan to attend Black Hills State University for pre-veterinary medicine and minor in business."
For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week....Minda receives a $100 scholarship from Lake Region Electric Association which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
