Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Sarah Jarman, a senior at Milbank High School with a 3.36 grade point average.
Sarah is involved with the Future Farmers of America. She also plays in the school band and sings in the school choir. She also plays for the school Tennis team.
Sarah Jarman tells us the reason she gets good grades and excels in school has to be with her frame of mind and the power of positive thinking. "I think I do so well is because I just think of good thoughts and if I think good thoughts I will do well."
Sarah has a lot of work to do; not only in class but with a list of extracurriculars as long as your arm.
As a senior, she's nearly had the full high school experience and says she has a piece of advice for next year's incoming freshmen. "I would have to say be yourself, don't stress about stuff because when you go it gets worse and just go with the flow."
For those who have had Sarah in class, like Ag Education teacher Jerry Janisch, the idea of her receiving this honor makes perfect sense. "Sarah is one of those students that every time I need something done for the class where she is one of my FFA officers she is willing to pitch in, help out when needed."
Sarah is looking forward to her next step in life. She is still making some final decisions but says she does have some of the plan already figured out. "I don't know where I am attending yet but I will major in theater and early childhood education."
For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Sarah receives a $100 scholarship from Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
