CFB: USF Moves up to 8th in D2.com Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The University of Sioux Falls Football Team (2-0), which ranks first in NCAA DII in rushing defense and sacks, has moved to #8 in the D2Football.com Week Two Poll, which was released Tuesday by the collegiate football website.

The Cougars, directed by first-year head football coach Jon Anderson, has now been ranked in 38 straight polls by D2Football.com. USF is now ranked in the top 10 in both national polls, D2Football.com and AFCA Coaches Poll. On Monday, the Cougars earned a #7 ranking in the AFCA Coaches DII Poll.

USF, which will travel to U-Mary on Saturday, is one of three NSIC schools ranked in the D2Football.com Poll’s top-15, including Minnesota State (2-0) at #9, and Minnesota Duluth (1-1) at #15.

The Cougars with 11 or more wins in two of the past three seasons, has been ranked in every D2Football.com poll since September 2014, reaching as high as #5 over the last six weeks of the 2016 season. The Cougars have won 34 of its last 39 games and has been victorious in 188 games since the turn of the Century (16 years) with 428 wins in school history.

After back-to-back NCAA Division II national titles, Northwest Missouri State won their 32nd straight game and continue to lead the top 25. Ferris State (1-0) is second and Texas A&M Commerce (2-0) is third. Eight of the top nine teams in the poll won in week two.
