The economy is on the minds of many South Dakotans, but it seemed that those we spoke with were also interested in how Senator John McCain will handle health care and what he'll say on the war in Iraq.
25-year-old Heather Cain says she's a big Obama fan, but in just a few hours, she says she'll be watching McCain.
Only she hopes he won't dwell on his POW experience.
"He is a hero. I mean, he's been to war. He has been a prisoner of war. He has experienced a lot of, you know, troubles for our country. He is a hero and I need him to get beyond that," said Heather.
Like many South Dakotans, this Mitchell native is interested in what McCain says about the war and 89-year-old Hamp Lane is no different.
Lane says he's been a life-long Democrat, but plans on voting for McCain.
Having served in the second World War, Lane hopes McCain will talk about how he'll care for Iraqi war vets.
"They are not being taken care of in the hospitals. They're letting them go on their own and not doing very much for them and some people are trying, but not enough is being done for them."
Those we spoke with were excited about McCain's Vice-Presidential pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
A lot of people told KSFY McCain has a tough act to follow.

John McCain is old and is nowhere near the man I thought he was in 2000. Regardless, He's a better choice than any Democrat on the ticket. Saying 'change' a thousand times doesn't mean anything people. Don't be fooled by the fool's gold Obama brings with him.

The thought that these right wing nut cases have a chance at running and continuing to ruin our country, our economy, our freedoms, and our national security even more is truly frightening. Eight years of Bush was bad enough do we have to endure more?
