Kids Voting South Dakota Kickoff

By Associated Press

Kids Voting South Dakota plans an election season kickoff celebration at Mount Rushmore.  The event on Wednesday will be attended by fifth- and sixth-grade students to proclaim that "Voting Rocks!"

Secretary of State Chris Nelson will give the keynote address in a program that will stress the importance of voting and being active participants in the electoral process.  Nearly 5,000 students from 21 participating Kids Voting school districts have been invited.  Almost 80,000 students - in all grades - from school districts across South Dakota are expected to cast straw votes on November 4th through Kids Voting South Dakota.
