Barnett Withdraws Name For South Dakota Supreme Court Vacancy

By Associated Press

Circuit Judge Mark Barnett of Pierre has withdrawn his application for a vacancy on the South Dakota Supreme Court.

Barnett was one of a number of people who applied to replace retiring Justice Richard W. Sabers on the state's highest court.
Gov. Mike Rounds will appoint a new justice.

Barnett, a former South Dakota attorney general, said he withdrew because he does not want to move to Sioux Falls to fulfill
the residency requirement for living in a district that includes Minnehaha County and part of Lincoln County.

He said he does not want to live away from his two sons or to make them move.
