Jackley and Long Sworn-In and Assume New Duties

By KSFY Staff

Marty Jackley and Larry Long both were sworn in to their new jobs this afternoon. Attorney General Larry Long resigned to accept an appointment as a South Dakota Circuit Judge and US Attorney Marty Jackley will take Larry Long's place as our new Attorney General. We caught up with Attorney General Jackley this afternoon who tells Action News he is committed to leading an office that is a strong advocate for the people of South Dakota. Jackley said, "My goals are very similar to the goals I had as United States Attorney. I want to continue, as I indicated when I spoke today, when our lawyers walk in and say 'we represent the state of South Dakota' it should have meaning that our lawyers are prepared, that we have integrity and that we are well skilled through good training." Jackley says out-going Attorney General Larry Long gave him one solid piece of advice: work hard and surround yourself with good people. Judge Larry Long joined in this live interview to share his thoughts on his new judgeship. © 2009 KSFY Action News. All rights reserved.
