Over the last several weeks, most of the burglaries reported to Sioux Falls Police have been in the central part of the city.

This week, the focus is on the southwest side...where five of the 12 burglaries reported over the last week have happened...

Those five were in neighborhoods bordered by 49th Street on the north, 69th Street on the south, Sundowner Avenue on the west and Western Avenue on the east.

We're in the 2400 block of West 9th Street tonight to remind you to lock your garages and your cars.

This last week, Sioux Falls Police received 13 reports of home and cars being broken into and looted.

Two were homes where the garages were open.

11 were unlocked cars.

Thieves made off with everything from food, liquor, electronics and money.

This happened in central, western and south Sioux Falls.

Do not depend on the kindness of strangers...lock it up!
