Grow beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables in a container

By Lisa May

We are talking about container gardening today.

First choose your container. They come in a variety of colors. Make sure you have a drainage hole in the bottom. You don't want you plants to drown.

Fill it with a good potting soil. Many have fertilizer in them. Fill the container to within a couple of inches of the top.

Now you can start planting. Take each plant and loosen the roots - that encourages more growth.

When you are done, make sure to water the container thoroughly and place it in a sunny or shady spot depending on the flowers and plants you've selected.

Even the smallest patio or porch can boast a crop of vegetables or a garden of flowers in containers. Planter boxes, wooden barrels, hanging baskets and large flowerpots are just some of the containers you can use. You are limited only by your imagination.
