Wheel Targets Patrick Poppen

45-year-old Patrick Poppen

45-year-old Patrick Poppen is on the run from the law and the latest target on Action News Wheel of Justice.

Poppen is a convicted sex offender. South Dakota state law requires sex offenders to regularly register with the state. Poppen has failed to register since January of 2007. The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for his arrest and are trying to track him down.

"It should be a concern to the public that there is a sex offender out there and we don't know where he's at," said Minnehaha County Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Gearman.

Area law enforcement officers are looking for Poppen, but haven't had any luck finding him. Sioux Falls Police officer Sam Clemens said, "When people just disappear off the grid and we're not able to locate them, there's a certain amount of danger that could be associated with that not knowing where this person is located at."

Clemens says any small piece of information could help officers put Poppen behind bars. Here's a description of what he looks like:

Sex:  Male
Race:  Native American
Height:  6'
Weight: 185 lbs.

If you have any information on Patrick Poppen, call Crime Stoppers at (605) 367-7007 or submit your tip online here.
