Editor's Note: The following story was published December 26, 2008.

At 19-years-old, Evan Kirchen is wanted by several sheriff's offices in South Dakota and Iowa.

In Lincoln County, Kirchen is wanted for escape. According to detective Chad Brown, when Tea Police officers were arresting Kirchen, he managed to get away. Officers later arrested him, but Kirchen bonded out of jail and was never seen again.

Authorities consider Kirchen dangerous. Brown said, "Being that anyone who flees from law enforcement or escapes from custody, you never know what they may do when they get re-arrested."

Lyon County Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal has two warrants out for Evan Kirchen. In march of this year, Kirchen allegedly stole jewelry from a house he was staying in. Bloemendaal says he also burglarized two homes, stealing thousands of dollars worth of power tools.

Kirchen is no stranger to the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office either. Sgt. Jason Gearman said, "Knowing Evan's past, it's probably safe to say that Evan's out committing more crimes and need to be picked up."

Here's a description on what he looks like:

Sex:  Male
Race:  White
Height:  6' 3"
Weight: 260 lbs.

If you have any information on Evan Kirchen, call Crime Stoppers at (605) 367-7007 or submit your tip online here.

I think he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

My thanks to the tipsters and those who have searched for him and those who arrested him. Too many people have a fear of "telling" on someone who they believe has broken the law. That needs to change. The consequence of not reporting such bottom feeders is to risk having our property stolen, our loved ones being at risk for harm, our youth being drawn in by them and their destructive lifestyles, and steadily increasing taxes when they are not pulling their weight in the workforce.
