Wheel Target Gerald Gosmire Arrested

50-year-old Gerald Eldon Gosmire

By Cliff Chandler

He had been one of the Brookings Co. Sheriff's Most Wanted, but 50-year-old Gerald Eldon Gosmire has been arrested.

"We received two tips on Monday morning following a Wheel of Justice program as to his whereabouts," said Kathy Hanson with the Brookings County Sheriff's Office. "Early in the afternoon, a call came in from an original tipster that gave us an exact location."

Hanson says she contacted the Minnehaha Co Sheriff’s Office with this information and they checked it out. Deputies were able to locate and arrest Gosmire without incident.

A few hours later, another person called the Brookings County Sheriff's Office with information on Gosmire. Hanson says the caller saw him over the weekend and had the same information on his whereabouts.

"We have used the Wheel of Justice on two occasions and both times we have had calls in regards to the whereabouts of the criminals," said Hanson.

She credited the cooperation of other local law enforcement agencies, like the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, who has assisted them with this and other arrests. But she says Action News' Wheel of Justice is getting them the information they need to make the arrest.

"This is a great tool, and we plan to use it again," said Hanson.

If you have any information on any fugitive targeted by the Wheel, call Crime Stoppers at (605) 367-7007. All tips are confidential.

I knew this guy personally- When he was a Kid he was the best friend I ever met! His Mom and Dad divorced, His brother Rick was Killed accidentally, then his his dad dies, he had a real nice farm and could no longer work it by himself. He collected Old computers, programmed them. Is a licensed Ham Operator. This is how Society demotes a human being for a mistake. I say give him a chance to pay the Debt, and help the poor person emotionally. He's a Human Being for Christs sake.
