By KSFY Staff

When most of us think about saving money, we usually think about not spending money on the big ticket items like cars, television's, and appliances.

Financial expert Aaron Maguire has some easy ideas that can end up making a big difference for you and your family's financial situation.

Here are some tips from Aaron for saving cash.

· Take 5 minutes from your daily shower. Savings= $102 per year.

· Make your lunch instead of buying it at a restaurant. Savings= $2,000 per year.

· Cut your lawn yourself and trim your own bushes, instead of hiring a lawn service. Savings: $1,200 per year.

· Polish your nails at home instead of getting a manicure every two weeks. Savings= $1,200 per year.

· Use fluorescent bulbs in your home. Savings= $6 per year.

· Use your water cooler at work instead of buying bottled water. Savings= $260 per year.

· Make your own coffee instead of going to a coffee shop. Savings= $2.50 per cup or $650 for the year.

· Reduce your water heater from 140 degrees to 120 degrees. Savings= $125 per year.

What do these little things add up to? $5,597!! Even if you only did half of the suggestions, you would still save over $2,700 per year!!

Aaron says the little things can add up, but it will always be up to you to make it happen.

I have been saving money for years on everything from cereal, diapers, tissues, razors to home suff and electronics by planning my needs over the next 6 months and watching bargain hunting websites like Unodeals.com to stock up for 6 months as soon as a deal appears.
