Selling Your Home

By KSFY Staff

If you are selling your home or thinking about selling your home, you want to get top dollar.

But it's not easy, especially in these tough economic times. Our Financial Expert Aaron Maguire has some tips on selling your home fast.

1. Separate yourself emotionally with your home: Understand that this is not going to be your home anymore, focus on the goal of selling your home and moving on

2. Take out all of your personal effects: pack up all of your personal pictures, trophies, heirlooms. You don't want the buyers to be distracted. You want them to look at your home.

3. Take out all of the clutter in your home. If you have been there for a number of years, you might have accumulated a lot of "stuff", get it out of the home!

If you don't need it or use it anymore: donate it: take as much as you can out of your home to make it look as big and open as possible.

Does the outside of the home and yard really matter?

4. Clean up the front yard: The outside of your home is going to give the potential buyer their first impression! Make sure the lawn is cut and green. Make sure the trees and bushes are trimmed. If the paint is faded, paint the faded areas.

When the buyer first walks into your home, is there anything special you should do?

Use your common sense: What would you like to see in a home?
