During these turbulent times with the stock market, it's more important than ever to have the right financial consultant looking out for you and your family's needs.

Financial expert Aaron Maguire says there are some things you need to ask your financial consultant to make sure they're doing everything they need to be.

· You should be hearing from your Financial Consultant at least on a monthly bases, especially now.

· When they contact you, is it just to sell you something or is it to see how you are doing?

2) How often does your Financial Consultant review your portfolio with you?

· A good Consultant will review your portfolio at least on a quarterly basis.

· This review should not just go over your performance. It should go over your asset allocation…in other words…how well is your portfolio diversified and how your investments are doing vs. its peers. There might be a better mutual fund that will offer the same gains with less risk.

3) Make sure that your Financial Consultant listens to you.

· This is so important

· Your Financial Consultant should be doing what is best for you at all times

· If you need income, that is what they should provide based on your needs, not the Financial Consultant's needs

· They should never recommend an investment on the first appointment

4) Make sure that your Financial Consultant asks the right questions.

· Your Financial Consultant should ask you if you have completed any type of estate planning…this is the foundation to your financial future.

· They should ask you…what does your retirement mean to you?...what do your investments mean to you?

· They should review and analyze your current portfolio before making any type of investment recommendations.
