Bacterial Sinusitis is What's Going Around in the Crofton, Nebraska area and if you've ever had a sinus infection, you know it's no fun.
According to Nurse Practitioner Jamie Miller, it's the gift you give yourself.

If you've ever had a cold or allergy attack that just wouldn't go away, chances are you actually had sinusitis.  It's a secondary infection of the sinus cavities and you usually get it after a viral upper respiratory infection.

The symptoms include:
*Facial pain and pressure
*Post nasal drip
* A thick yellowish green discharge
*A sore throat with bad breath
*Fatigue
*Dizzy when bending over
*And sometimes a fever.

Jamie Miller, NP with the Avera Sacred Heart Medical Clinic says, "With sinusitis you will feel dizzy when you bend over and will be fatigued. It also feels like you have a tooth ache actually and in 5-10% of the cases, people do have an infected or abscess on a tooth as well."

Miller says using a humidifier will help, as well as putting a warm compress on your face and increase your fluid intake. If you suspect you have a sinus infection, Miller says go to a doctor right away. They will treat it medically with an antibiotic, nasal spray and decongestant.  Expect to have it for 10 days.

Miller also says people who are predisposed to sinus infections tend to be smokers or people who are around second hand smoke and people with a deviated septum.
