We check in with doctors in Sioux Center, in Northwest Iowa at the Sioux Center Medical Clinic Avera.
No confirmed influenza cases, but other bugs have invaded some bodies. 

Family Medicine Doctor Richard Jongewaard says they have run the gambit with illnesses for this time of year. But luckily he says nothing of an epidemic and nothing real serious and nothing like they had in Centerville, South Dakota last week when 17 percent of the student body was out of school because of flu, pink eye and strep throat.

Dr. Jongewaard says, "We have had a flu like illness that wasn't positive for Influenza A or B in testing but they had some body aches and fevers, and respiratory symptoms and it seems to hang on for quite a while.  We've had our usual run of RSV but not an overwhelming amount. Some cases of strep and some gastroenteritis (stomach flu)."

He continues, " This time of year when we are enclosed together make sure you wash your hands, close your mouth when you sneeze or cough and cough in to your elbow. It's wise not to share utensils or drink out of the same glass or use the same straw. And if you're sick it would be nice if you could stay home so you don't spread what's going around."

In Sioux Center, the illnesses have crossed the spectrum of age. No one age group has been singled out.
