The snow has finally stopped falling, the temps are rising and the trees are budding. We have more on why that's got so many of you heading to the doctor's office since the thermometer hit 60 degrees.

About 45 million Americans suffer from inhaling airborne allergens. Because pollen grains are small and buoyant they can remain in the air for hundreds of miles. Plug your nose and hold your breath they are flying high right now.

While so many of us are thrilled the grass is once again turning green and the trees are budding.. there are also so many of you who know you are going to be or already are suffering with seasonal allergies because the trees are pollinating.

Dr. Michael Stassen with the Main McGreevy Clinic Avera on the Avera McKennan campus says, "Boy, as soon as that sun power comes out and we hit 60 degrees a lot of people come in with allergic rhinitis or allergies to tree pollen."

Dr. Stassen says it doesn't take long this time of year before people start coming in with itchy watery red eyes, runny noses, nasal congestion and sneezing.

Besides medicine to control your symptoms, the professionals best advice is to reduce your expose to the pollen. Keep your windows and doors closed because that "fresh air" actually contains millions of airborne pollen grains.
