A lot of toddlers are having trouble with their tummies in Sioux Falls. Here's more on a virus that's hitting hard, and as it turns out is hitting late in the season.

No one likes a sick baby, but there are a lot of little ones coming in to the Main McGreevy Clinic Avera in Sioux Falls with a bad case of stomach flu. Acute Gastroenteritis is going around Sioux Falls and McGreevy Pediatrician Dr. Kara Bruning says a lot of toddlers can't keep anything down or in and are getting dehydrated.

Dr. Kara Bruning, a Pediatrician at the Main McGreevy Clinic Avera says, "A whole bunch of kids are coming in dehydrated from all the vomiting and diarrhea. The best thing parents can do is make sure they don't get dehydrated by having them drink small amounts of fluids frequently."

Dr. Bruning says Pedialyte works well, but any fluid will do the trick just make sure they are urinating if they aren't you need to get them to a doctor immediately. Dr. Bruning says virus's can typically last 7 to 10 days but this particular strain of acute gastroenteritis isn't lasting as long. After about 3 to 4 days your baby should be feeling a lot better.
