Suspect Identified

Police are looking for this suspect in relation to a string of home burglaries.

By KSFY News

Lincoln and Minnehaha County investigators are asking for your help in finding a suspect who's accused of breaking into victim's homes while they sleep.

This afternoon, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's SWAT Team served a warrant at 1800 South Grange Avenue in Sioux Falls.  They were attempting to locate property associated with several burglaries that have occurred in Lyon County, Iowa, Lincoln County, South Dakota and Minnehaha County, South Dakota.

The suspect of the investigation is identified as 23-year-old Blake Andrew Lloyd.  He's described as a white male, 6'1, and about 160 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.  He may be driving a 2000 Buick Park Avenue with either Iowa license plate #630TAM or #1XA832.   He has active warrants for burglary.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police.

We first told you about the investigation last night on KSFY News, when we interviewed a rural Lincoln County family who had been victimized by the suspect.

On a Friday night in December, the Jim Burg family headed to bed, looking forward to sleeping in. But their credit card company woke them, asking if their cards had been stolen.

"They said no, go verify that and we came downstairs, all the doors were open and her purse was gone," said victim Jim Burg.

While the family of four was sleeping, a burglar had quietly entered their home through an unlocked outside door.

"That was frightening. Thinking the thought that someone actually came into our house while we were here and just having the guts to come in," said Jim's son, Josh Burg.

After coming in through the outside garage door, he came in right through here, into the kitchen, and straight for the purse. The burglar ignored the laptop and digital camera, but got away with exactly what he wanted.

"On the debit card, he had bought an ipod and some computer software they said," stated Jim Burg.

In a matter of eight hours, the burglar maxed out the Burg's cards: over $15,000 gone.

"That's probably one of the worst because each statement, you're getting charges for overdrafts and insufficient funds and we didn't do any of it," said Burg.

Now, the Burg's are replacing cards, fixing accounts and making sure their doors are always locked.

Investigators say this burglar targets homes with open doors and always goes for credit cards. That's how investigators captured a picture of the burglar. He tried to use one of the Burg's credit cards in an ATM.

It's important to make sure you're doors are always locked, no matter who's home.
