WAKE UP WITH KSFY: Arlington: Small Town, Big Reception

KSFY Live In The Morning anchors Chris Studer and Valerie Gutierrez talk with city leaders throughout South Dakota about their towns, what's happening there and what's new. They talked to Mayor Amiel Redfish from the city of Arlington.

The city has a population of about 1,000. It's located in the eastern part of the state. Arlington is in Brookings and Kingsbury Counties

Mayor Redfish said that any small community, things move at a slower pace in Arlington. City leaders have made efforts over the past few years to upgrade the infrastructure of the city. A key improvement, and essential for connecting the small town to the rest of world, was improving their broadband and cellular access. Residents also see improved park ammenities and school resources.

Industry in town has expanded with Global Polymer. If you drive around town, you'll see a lot of work being done by regular citizens who are trying to maintain the charm living in a small town, while trying to improve their amenities.

For example, the Grocery store built a new building an moved. The vacant steak house was reopened under new ownership. The elevator is undergoing a renovation with new modern facilities. The city is also planning to continues upgrades with street work, and utilities upgrades.
