South Dakota Teen Charged In Omaha Murder

Kyle Bormann

A South Dakota native was charged with first degree murder Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting in Omaha. 19-year-old Kyle Bormann is accused of shooting a young woman while she was waiting in line at an Omaha fast food restaurant.

Omaha officials say they still don't know what Bormann was thinking, or what his motive was Sunday night.

A memorial at the scene of Sunday's shooting remembers a young woman full of life.

"She went to UNO, she wanted to go to nursing school. She was wonderful, loved life," said a friend.

As family and friends of 21-year-old Brittany Williams mourn, the Douglas County Attorney's office has filed first degree murder charges against Bormann and released details about the shooting.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine says Bormann was at least 100 feet from the restaurant when he allegedly used a Winchester rifle to take the life of Brittany Williams with a single shot to the head. Kleine said the gun was a Winchester 670a .243 caliber bolt action rifle with a scope, and belongs to Bormann.

"Apparently he had some history of hunting lived in South Dakota. That's where he was from, and was a hunter," stated Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.

When he was arrested on Sunday night, police said they found Bormann dressed as a hunter.

"He was dressed in camouflage gear, camouflage jacket, camouflage pants," said Kleine.

Kleine says the shooting still appears to be completely random.

The Omaha Police Department confirmed Bormann is in jail and will make his initial court appearance Wednesday morning in Omaha.

Kyle was not a troubled teen although it does appear that way. Also from what I have been told from other friends of mine the only camoflauge he was wearing Sunday night was a camoflauge jacket...the only jacket he owned. Kyle is one of my friends as we went to college together. Although I dont think in any way what he did can be justified I do know that he was a genuinely nice person. My heart goes out to Brittany and her family as her life never should have been taken.

This is such a tragedy!! Here is another situation of a troubled teen. He needs to go to prison, and he also needs Counseling. Something is wrong with him. Something must have happened in his childhood. I don't get it!!!

until you walk a mile in his shoes, you won't understand. Instead of saying negative things...pray for good things to come. By you saying negative comments, doesn't make you any better. Pray for both families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to both the Williams and Bormann families. This is a difficult time for everyone involved.

Since when does wearing camouflage determine what you do? If that is the case we need to seriously look around at the mall and the stores that we shop in, I believe the "in" thing is camouflage!!!

It is situations like these they make us look back and say oh my lord. 21 years old, young and so much ahead for her. This guy is sick. I don't care what was going through his head but he needs to be put away. This seems to be an everyday issue in our nation.
