School Bus Crash near Peever

By Associated Press

Three children and the driver of a school bus were taken to a Sisseton hospital Thursday evening after the bus crashed along a Roberts County road about 2 miles east of Peever.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. when the Enemy Swim Day School bus drifted to the side of the road, struck a bridge guard rail and went into the ditch.

The bus then struck an approach and vaulted into the air, landing on its front.  The patrol says the driver may have been distracted, although the crash remains under investigation.  The three children, all from the same Browns Valley, Minnesota, family, are ages 6, 12 and 13. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
