The search is on tonight for a man who held up the the Bank of the West in Redfield this morning.

He showed a gun during the robbery, but no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a white male, at least six feet tall, weighing 300 pounds. With short blond hair, sideburns and a goatee. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a grayish green jacket. Tonight we learned he was also wearing a mask.

The sheriff tells KSFY the robber walked into the bank around 11:15 this morning, pointed a gun at the teller and demanded all the cash in the drawer. He then took off on foot.

An extensive ground search is underway to catch the man who walked in to bank of the west and demanded money.

Sheriff Les Helm says, "We are continuing with the investigation working through some footage from the security cameras from the bank. Trying to locate people that may have seen or heard something."

But the search teams caught the attention of the entire community.

Concerned citizen Ivan White says, "I haven't seen anything and i don't know of anyone else that has seen anything either. This must have been a very quick incident."

The armed robbery forced the school in Redfield into lockdown.

Helm, "In the event that this person is still here we don't know whether he is here yet or long gone. We just don't know."

The sheriff tells KSFY the only people in the bank at the time were bank personnel, and they were able to provide a good description of the robber.
