More Clues About Redfield Bank Robber

By Leslie Rupiper

There are new developments in a Redfield bank robbery. The Spink County State's Attorney tells KSFY someone has come forward saying they saw a man who looked like the robber with the goatee at  the Bank of the West in Redfield yesterday. Except this person was clean-shaven. The witness saw the man coming out of a Redfield home shortly after the robbery happened.  Today investigators checked out that house and found what appear to be shavings from a goatee. Investigators say the people who live in the home were not there when the suspect would have entered and they are not in any way connected to the robbery.

The suspect walked into the Bank of the West in Redfield late Friday morning, showed a gun and demanded money. No one was hurt, but the town was put on lock-down and police have been looking for the robber ever since.

Here is an updated description of the robber. He's a white male, at least six feet tall, weighing 300 pounds. The man may be wearing a tan jacket and could be traveling in a late 80's or early 90's 4-door sedan that is either gray or white.

DNA takes months and is only useful if there is a suspect to compare with the collected DNA. If there were video images, why haven't we seen them, yet? This is not like on television, where the bankrobbers are caught on tape, identified and later caught. This is real life and in SD budgets don't allow for all the technology shown on television. This crime, if solved, will be solved through police work and because of the criminal's stupidity. No one can keep the secret of a bank robbery for long.

More clues is a good deal. They should be able to get DNA evidence from the shavings. Or possible finger prints?
