It's described as one of the most brutal murders ever in south dakota. More than 20 years ago a Huron mom stabbed her daughter more than 70 times. Today she learned she would not be granted parole.
On the street where the murder happened, few homeowners remain who lived there at the time of the murder. Now Adam Rathjen lives just two houses away from the murder scene. He was a young boy at the time, but remembers the crime. "Everybody was extra concerned about holding their kids tight."
She was sentenced to life in prison, but former Governor Bill Janklow cut the sentence to 100 years if she'd admit she did it. That change made her eligible to go before the state's parole board. Attorney General Larry Long says they made the right decision by denying her freedom. "I think she has gotten any substantial concessions that she was entitled to, and so i'm grateful that the parole board denied her parole."
Even after all these years, it's a feeling adam shares. "I certainly think she should stay in for the rest of her life. I got two daughters, I love them to death, I couldn't imagine any person doing that to their kids."
Jenner Tyler will be eligible to go before the parole board again in 8 months.

Deb was my Sunday School teacher when I was young and I was deeply hurt by what she did. I believe that she may have remorse, but she is where she belongs because no matter how far those affected have moved on, it still hurts to know what she did to little Abby. I say she deserves to suffer too.
