When will people learn to take responsibility for their actions? It was Josh's fault the accident happened. He ran the stop sign. Had he stopped there would be no accident. That's a fact. But just because he ran a stop sign doesn't make him a bad person. Don't get so defensive; no one is saying he's a bad person, he just made a mistake. And for all you who don't know how to spell...try running your comment through spell check!

Sometimes people die when it is not the fault of any actions they did. This nice lady is dead because someone made a mistake. Case closed.

I was reading all the stories and what I feel is that some of their comments should have prob. been kept to themselves. If that is a bad corner then they need to fix it and put something better up so that does not happen. As far as the seatbelt cooment who is to know that he would have died anyway wearing it and what is their concern on the seatbelt had nothing to do with the accident. I did not know any of the people that had died but some of those coments disturbing. My thoughts go to the fam.

okay...i feel bad that those ppl died but why should you blame the boy. Josh was a good kid! And like ppl said you can't blame the parents or him for not wearing a seat belt. And some of you make it sound like he actually ment to run the stop sign and kill or hurt someone! If you don't know these ppl don't personal judge them. Stop trying to blame someone for this accident. It happened...it's sad...and everyone is sorry and hurt cause it happened.

Just becuz you have put someone in a body bag does NOT give you the right to say this boy wasn't a VICTIM! So look at YOURSELF before you talk.

You are confused, you're correct you are confused. No where in the story does it say what caused the boy to drive through the stop sign. Was he concious, does he have a health problem? Before you judge get all the facts, look at yourself in the mirror and decide if you're really the one who should be making those kind of statements. When you've put someone in a body bag like I've had to do then you can state if that person was a victim or not.

He was a victim! He DIED and you have NO IDEA why he ran the stop sign! It could have been MANY FACTORS! So don't say anything else till UR sure.

Was the 16 year old a "victim" of his own negligence?

Tuesday, Jun 24 at 12:42 PM yes you are confused wrote ...

There were many victims in this tragedy. However, the 16 year old who was negligent and caused the crash was not one of them. If you are the proximate cause of the crash then you are not a victim, you are the reason an innocent person died. I feel sympathy & empathy for the boy's family but he was not a victim. Calling him a victim completely misses the point of what a victim is. Please think before you post anything else on this crash.

A few people are pointing fingers...It will be interesting to see what the reason was that this young man did not stop or see the stop sign. I am sure the Highway Patrol is reconstructing the accident which will include the angle of the sun. Since Mr. Nelson was driving west into the sun shortly before 9pm it leaves me wondering if the sun played a factor in this accident..let's not be so quick to judge it could happen to any of us.

I have seen two stories on two different networks about remembering a teacher. Not a word about remembering a 16 year old child. Side by side stories remembering both victims of this accident would have been nice to see. I felt it to be disrespectful to the family of the teen. I will remember both victims and their families in my prayers.

Unfortunately - that is a horrible corner - even with the stopper bars in the road. There have been several accidents there, the driver of the car with two adults actually had an accident there within a year ago with another person running the stop sign. It should have flags and flashing lights - its just a bad corner. Sadly, the people in this accident know that all too well.

Reguarless or not if he was wearing a seatbelt he is a young child who died! How does not wearing a seatbelt justify this poor young mans death! It DOESN'T...just because you don't wear your seatbelt doesn't mean your life has less meaning than someone who does! I am just appauled that some people would even think thats appropriate to even think.

Monday, Jun 23 at 2:41 PM Frustrated wrote ...

When will people learn what a stop sign looks like and how to obey it? At this point the seatbelt is irrelevant, the driver should have stopped for the stop sign and this wouldn't have happened. Don't parents know how to educate their children about driving and the "rules of the road". When will senseless deaths by careless drivers STOP!

gosh peopl everyone makes mistakes...you cant tell me that everytime you get into a car you put your seat belt on...there is many people that dont. josh made a mistake alright. like none of us make mistakes. Josh was one of my close friends and i dont think that it is fair that all you people can do is put him down just because he is a teenager. my gosh ya it was a bad thing. ya he wasnt wearing a seat belt ya he ran that stop sign but you cant say all of you people are perfect drivers.

Even if this child had a seatbelt on whose to say he would have survived? Are you forgetting the other victim had a seatbelt on and still died? Furthermore its not only teens that don't use them.
