Municipal Tax Hikes Take Effect July 1 (AP)

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - As of Tuesday, new or updated city taxes will take effect in 12 South Dakota cities.

According to the state Department of Revenue and Regulation, those starting a two percent city sales tax are Andover, Bison and Piedmont.

Those raising their city sales tax from one percent to two percent include: Bryant, Harrold, Java, McIntosh, Pollock, and Selby. Ashton and Astoria are starting a one percent city sales tax. Canistota is imposing a one percent tax on alcoholic beverages,
eating establishments, lodging and ticket sales, and admissions to certain events.
