Shots Fired in White

The Brookings County Sheriff's Department says a man fired a gun and led them on a chase in the city limits of White this morning.

Deputies say the 22-year-old man jumped in the car of a 17-year-old girl at about 12:20am this morning. She got away, but the man got into an argument with some people and then fired a handgun. The suspect then got into his own car and started chasing people. Police called in the SWAT Team to try to find the suspect. He was arrested just after 5am this morning and was charged with drunk driving, possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

His name has not yet been released. White is located just north of Brookings.

A 22-year-old man was arrested early this morning. Police say the man from White, South Dakota, jumped into the car of a 17-year-old girl, drove to a friend's home, left the girl's car and got into his own, then drove through residential yards chasing people who were fleeing from the suspect on foot. He ended up firing several shots near an apartment complex. The suspect was finally arrested with the aid of a SWAT team at about 5:00 this morning.
