Fire Forces Evacuation Near Garretson

Frefighters from several local departments spent most of the evening tending to a house fire on 486th Avenue north of Garretson.

Firefighters from several local departments spent most of the evening tending to a house fire on 486th Avenue north of Garretson.

Volunteers from Garretson, Dell Rapids, Jasper and Sherman all responded to the fire that broke out inside a rural home. Everyone was evacuated safely, and the quick response helped save the home. Even though the fire was contained quickly, firefighters remained on the scene for quite some time to make sure that it was under control.
