Questions Remain in Day Care Closure

The Sioux Falls day care located at 2604 South Avondale Avenue has been closed, while police investigate the suspicious injury of a 12 week old boy.

Sioux Falls police are conducting interviews with potential witnesses regarding the closure of a Sioux Falls day care.  Right now, police are not willing to talk about the investigation until it's complete.

A Sioux Falls day care located at 2604 South Avondale Avenue is closed as police investigate a suspicious injury to a 12 week old baby boy that may have occurred at the daycare. According to the city health department, the day care is registered with Pam Anderson of Sioux Falls.

The city of Sioux Falls has closed the home daycare until the investigation is complete. Despite the closing, neither her, nor anyone else, has been charged with a crime. Neighbors who spoke to KSFY say they would be shocked if she is charged.

Angela Bonynge lives down the block from Pam Anderson and walks by her home nearly every day, but her relationship with Anderson goes far beyond a quick hello.

"She cared for my brother when he was younger and she was just a very nice lady," Bonynge said. "I can't imagine that anything would happen in her care like that."

Sioux Falls Police are not saying what type of suspicious injury the baby boy may have suffered at Anderson's day care. There were people at the day care Thursday night, but nobody answered when KSFY went to the door to ask about the case.

Neighbors who took their kids to Anderson several years ago didn't want to go on camera but say she has been in business for more than 15 years, and they also say they've never heard any complaints.

Angela Bonynge doesn't need day care for her daugher Ashton, but she says she has recommended Pam Anderson to friends looking for a good provider. Now she says she isn't jumping to conclusions.

"She would never do anything to hurt anybody, so if anything happened it must have been an accident," Bonynge said. "Until they find out I guess it's all speculation."
