7 Year Old Collapses At School, Later Dies

By Leslie Rupiper

A 7 year old boy is dead after collapsing at his elementary school. It happened in Orange City, Iowa.  MOC Floyd Valley Superintendent Gary Richardson tells KSFY 7 year old Carlos Anzua later died at an Orange City Hospital. But the cause of his death is still unclear.

According to Richardson, Carlos Anzua was playing a game of warm-up tag in P.E. class at Orange City Elementary, when he asked to get a drink of water. The instructor noticed the boy wasn't feeling well, and asked if he was okay. Superintendent Richardson tells KSFY that Carlos told the teacher he couldn't see, and that he then collapsed in the instructor's arms. Carlos was taken to the school nurse who then called in emergency responders. The boy was taken to the Orange City Area Health System Hospital where he later died.

Carlos' older brother says he was an active little boy. Jaimie Adame says, "He loved to ride his bike around. He usually rode it around the block." Superintendent Richardson says an autopsy was performed on the boy, but that it could take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to get the results. Richardson says the family also says Carlos had no prior medical problems. In the meantime, Carlos' 2 sisters and 3 brothers are trying to cope with the loss of their little brother. Jaimie says, "I play soccer and I took him to games with me, so I'm really going to miss him there."

Funeral services for Anzua will be held Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa. A memorial fund to help with expenses has been set up at the Iowa State Bank in Orange City.

If you don't like it when everyone doesn't agree with your relgious beliefs, I suggest moving to Iran, Syria, or North Korea. I'm sure you'll fit right in there with your narrow view of the world.

well ted, when my children and i pass on, i believe we'll be with our Lord above. just remember what john lennon from the beatles said, and he was shot to death. and marilyn monroe, well i'm sure you know the stories of what the so called famous people said about Our God and now they are gone. I could not imagine how these parents feel about losing their son. but i witness it all the time what a parent goes through when they lose their child. It's heartbreaking. think before you speak!!

It's sad that this boy isn't around anymore. He's gone. You are telling yourself he's with 'God' to make youself feel better, not because it's a fact. Condolences to the family and all involved.

That's a sad story. If there were a God he'd be with him but because there isn't he's just gone. It's sad though.

I can't imagine this happening to me. I feel for the family and the teacher, and the school. I pray for comfort for those left and rejoice for little Carlos as he enters Heaven. "Let the little children come to me." amen.
