Youth Pheasant Season Begins

Though the regular pheasant season doesn't officially begin until October 18th, young people got their first crack at the state bird Saturday.

The youth season runs through Wednesday for hunters ages 12 through 17. Shooting hours are 10 a.m. to sunset with a daily limit of three roosters. Youth hunters must be accompanied by an adult who's not carrying a gun.

Next up is the three-day resident-only pheasant season which opens October 11th.

The regular season for residents and nonresidents opens on October 18th.
